  4. IMPORTANT NOTICE:
  5. This version of armTeX requires filenames which are longer than 10
  6. chars. The Zip files must be unpacked into a directory that allows this.
  7. You can use Richard Atterer's raFS or Jason Tribbeck's LongFiles. You
  8. can get the latest versions of these programs at:

  13. The latest versions at the time of writing are provided in rafs113.zip

  16. Be sure to use a dearchiver which uses / as the extension separator.
  17. InfoZip does this as does the !SparkPlug which is provided in splug.bas.
  18. It a self-extracting archive, set the filetype to BASIC and run it.

  23.    You don't need this if you are downloading for the first time.
  24.    Patches to the older Zip files. Save download time if you already
  25.    fetched the distribution once. See the file armtex-patch.txt

  28.    Documentation for armTeX.
  29.    The basic directory structure and !TeX directory.
  30.    Essential binaries. This archive holds just enough to run plain TeX.

  32. dviview.zip toolbox.zip
  33.    Paul Field's DVI file previewer.
  34.  
  35. latex.zip
  36.    LaTeX2e in a preinstalled version.
  37.    Tools and Graphics standard packages pre-installed.

  39. lowmemory.zip
  40.    Binaries and format files which are essential for running TeX when
  41.    memory is low. 4MB users should download this.

  43. babel.zip
  44.    The Babel multilingual system (almost) pre-installed.
  45.    Hyphenation patterns are supplied for American and British English
  46.    in base.zip.

  48. ams.zip
  49.    Pre-installed extensions to LaTeX from the American Mathematical
  50.    Society. Really good tools for serious mathematical typesetting.

  52. bibtex.zip
  53.    BibTeX is a bibliography generator for LaTeX.

  56.    Not so often needed binaries and Texinfo, the GNU documentation
  57.    system.

  59. metafont.zip
  60.    Binaries and prebuilt base file for Metafont. Sources for the
  61.    Computer Modern typefaces.
  62.    A version for 4MB users is in lowmemory.zip. You still need this
  63.    archive to use Metafont, though.

  65. latexsrc.zip, babelsrc.zip, amssrc.zip
  66.    LaTeX documented source code for LaTeX and the packages. This is not
  67.    needed to use LaTeX.

  70.    Sources for all the binaries in WEB and C format. Source code for
  71.    BibTeX and Texinfo is not available.

  73. texfonts/
  74.    This directory contains the TeXFonts 3.00 distribution (taken from
  75.    HENSA). See the readme.txt file there.

  78.    Some programs that are useful with TeX. See extras/readme.txt

  80. To get TeX up and running you need base.zip, dviview.zip and some fonts,
  81. latex.zip is highly recommended. If you only have 4MB of memory you need
  82. lowmemory.zip also. armTeX will not run in less than 4MB.
